Mr. Romano's "Chief of Staff" Goes to Washington

Oh no, Ruben missed the train!!!

This one:

Yesterday, a train full of movers and shakers  chugged from Newark to D.C. for the 79th Annual Walk to Washington. The train was chartered by the NJ Chamber of Commerce and sources tell GA that registration, including the train ticket, cost $690...

Cheapskates need not apply!

But for political networking, it's a serious schmooze-fest, with the biggest bigs-wigs in New Jersey politics trapped together on a train for a couple of hours.

Well, GA's got eyes and ears outside of Hoboken...

Check out what was given out yesterday on the Chamber train:

Don't get it?

Look closer:

According to sources, Joe Branco, the failed co-manager of  "Move Forward 2012" was on the train hosting a "free bar" dispensing complimentary drinks and introducing himself as "Anthony Romano's Chief of Staff."

Sources report that the failed campaign manager, "kept telling people how bad Zimmer is and complaining about bike lanes and flood protection measures" to anyone with ears.

GA was told, "People didn't give a shit, they just wanted the drinks."

In fact, a source put it this way: "[the failed campaign manager] was 'harassing' anyone that came near him."

GA was told there weren't many Hudson County people on the train aside from the "Move Forward 2012" political flop.   But that doesn't mean the all those Romano 2017 cups went to waste; some movers and shakers might have saved their cups to relieve themselves in if the overcrowded train urinals filled up.

Who knows?

In the meantime, my friend Ruben overslept, and missed the Chamber train. Why would he squander an opportunity to schmooze with Union leaders and lobbyists- ka ching?

Is this a sign Ramos isn't serious about running for mayor in 2017?

GA thinks Ruben allowed Anthony Romano to get a jump on future endorsements and/or contributions from movers and shakers.

Imagine all of the new friends Ruben would have if he had made the train and given out these?

  1. Branco is a professional cabana boy. Used to do it for Carmelo. Now he does it for Romano. His track record speaks for itself.

    1. Romano and Branco are both multi-millionaire bar owners on Washington Street and will rake in the cash with the Leprecon puke fest while screwing over the people of Hoboken.

  2. Don't be coy, Stick. Chief of Staff Branco printed nice cups for you.

  3. Russo is running Romano the rest is all window dressing.

    Why Romano and not Ramos?

Romano's trump card is he is Italian and in certain quarters and with certain Mama's in Hoboken that still matters.

Odds are Romano has little chance of winning in 2017 and is a place holder for Russo a few years down the road when he hopes Zimmer will not run.

Some dark siders are afraid Mayor Zimmer will turn into a another Mayor Turner and are starting to whine about term limits.

  4. I'm hearing Ramos isn't running. Thinks Stick can't be beat.

    1. I'm hearing Ramos is not taking anything off the table so he can either run or more likely broker his candidacy by being a spoiler. If he runs in a three way race everyone knows he and Romano loses big time to Zimmer.

    2. Zimmer's not running....

    3. Maybe the council will try to appoint Zimmer to an extra term before her current term is up?
That Old Guard style tactic against Gardiner worked real well for them...

    4. You can't really be that stupid to post something as lame as that.

  5. Pupie's a wild card in 2017. He's real pissed at a couple of people.

    1. If Pupie is angry he should totally run as a 3rd candidate. I look forward to seeing him on the campaign trail

    2. Zimmer needs a divide in the Old Guard to win.
She's never won more than 50% of the city-wide vote when we had runoffs.

    3. Time4TermLimitz. Moron, that is because there are always multiple candidates. You miss the part where she keeps winning

    4. Moron? The point I think "Time4TermLimitz" was making is, she needs multiple candidates to win. She could never in the past, get over 50%

Calling people morons doesn't change numbers, it's simply a fact that new residents didn't vote in the Spring. Zimmer has never won a Spring Race or a run off. Whatever, I'm sure she thinks her 7-2 Council was all her doing... Oh yeah 7-2 the other big lie. So glad they are showing their independence and not following the Mayor off a cliff like lemmings. She certainly didnt win the last two council meetings... Gardiner bested her, and the entire city is beating her up over seawalls and bike lanes. But that's okay, she's a star! She's on TV!

    5. Except the election will be in November. A presidential election that will have triple the voter turnout than the usual November election. Runoff's are a thing of the past.
Gardiner is a long time Zimmer supporter is now on NHSA.
After an 8 to 1 vote Washington Street is well on it way to a total makeover with 90% of the original plan still intact and the revised proposals for flood protection have so far been well accepted.

    6. The Presidential is in 2016 not 2017 when the Mayor's time is up.
      Idiot...

    7. Anon 6:24- 2017 is a long way off. No the "entire city" is not "beating her up over flood protection and bike lanes"- that's the chorus of drama queens. I predict it won't get traction. The post is about Romano, btw.

    8. November 2017 will also be the Gubernatorial election which historically has a large voter turnout.
A large voter turn out is not good for any old guard candidate.

    9. I agree with GA. In two years once Washington Street is built out people will not remember any disagreements in planning and celebrate the accomplishment.

    10. GA- attend the council meetings or watch them. 200 drama queens?
      Sorry you are just dreaming

      Delete
    11. I watch them. I'm not talking about the good folks who spoke at the council, I'm talking about drama queens (like yourself?). IMO, business owners and residents will be delighted with infrastructure and cosmetic revitalization of Wash St. Only a choir of drama queens will be wailing about bike lines. No traction as a talking point but great fodder for satire.

    12. So long as it is built as the plan currently envisions it, I completely agree. But if they go back after "collecting data" and try and sneak in those bike lanes later, then I completely disagree. Bike lanes will only be a talking point going forward to the extent they are imposed on an unwilling public. By extension, no bike lanes means nothing to talk about.

    13. OK (again), anon@9:34, we get it (again). you don't like bike lane, got it. no wait, please tell us again a few more times...how do you feel about bike lanes?

      Delete
    14. OH MY GOD A9:34 YOUR SUCH A DRAMA QUEEN !

      Delete
    15. Again? Who says it is the same person as before? News flash, it wasn't. And the point remains, bike lanes will not be an issue so long as the bike lane idea remains dead and buried. Make sure it stays that way.

    16. Very Drama Queenish of you A3:38

  6. Branco needs to STFU. He is so disliked that some people will start supporting bike lanes just to spite the guy. So please, shut up already! lol

  7. Bet Stick has no idea Branco was running around with those cups telling everyone he was chief of staff!! Somebody tell branco that Stick isnt mayor yet!!

  9. Stick's mayoral campaign kickoff was on Amtrak... hosted by his Chief of Staff, wow!

    ReplyDelete
  10. There probably wasn't more than three votes from Hoboken on that train. As for Stick's mayoral aspirations, his alliances with the low-lifes of Hoboken politics will do him in. As for Russo in the future, Hoboken can't afford the Russos anymore.
