Ramos' Gift to Hoboken Children

"...On election day, he yelled profanities at my wife and kids while driving by. He almost got himself into an accident in the process, which would have been absolutely hilarious. Regardless of how you feel on education issues, I have no clue how anyone with any sense of morality would vote for an asshole like Madigan. You would really have to be just as spineless and classless as him to vote for him." -"hobokenbeast"
That anonymous allegation about BoE vote-by-mail 'winner' John Madigan shouting "profanities" at a mom and her kids, a drive-by, has a familiar ring to it...

Excerpts: "Candidate for Board of Education issued summons for allegedly shouting at board member" "

Oh, right.  He shouted "bitch!" at a one female board member in front of her small son. Then yelled an outburst of profanities at School Board member Theresa Minutillo, which she reported to the police.

Ask a witness what "profanities" John Madigan shouted out at female (Kids First) board members in 2010 during meetings.

GA will give you a hint: starts with "c" and ends in "u-n-t."

Would YOU want a guy like this sitting on YOUR CHILD'S School Board?

Would a Charter parent like Ruben Ramos, want this guy sitting on his School Board?

So why'd he PUT HIM ON MINE (Hoboken School District)?

Ruben Ramos' VBM harvest in the 4th and 5th Wards put John Madigan on  Hoboken District School Board.

Ruben Ramos' VBM harvest swept out Addys Velez and Sheillah Dallara.

Ruben is a TEACHER by profession, for G-d's sake.  He teaches in the Paterson Public School District.

Shocking isn't it?  That a parent and a teacher would be so reckless with OTHER PEOPLE'S CHILDREN.

You know, the only light to come out of this travesty, 600 harvested vbms FLIPPING a School Board election, may be the  awakening of 'mainstream' Hoboken to the corruption of Hoboken's Democratic election process by the VBM harvesters.

Maybe this is a 'teaching moment' that will bring even MORE machine voters to the polls next election, enough to overcome the margin of Hoboken's vbm harvest.

WE CAN, WE WILL, WATCH US.

  1. I see a backlash coming.

  2. Interesting to see exactly where the majority of VBM came from. The VBM needs to go away. It should be harder to get one. You should have to justify the reason you need one. No campaign staff should be able to handle them. Amazing how many people just give away their vote.

    1. It is equally amazing how little a person w/ no integrity will accept to sell out their neighbors and even their own children. For the price of a few six packs, you can get some voters to vote for anyone.

  3. After selling his integrity off to the vote harvesters Ruben Ramos can never claim the moral high ground on any issue.

While Ramos tried desperately to distance himself from the race bait. hate campaign of his alluded good friend Carmelo Garcia by accepting the harvested HHA votes he has proven himself to be just as bad.

    1. Really, you are comparing DeFusco, who campaigned his ass off, probably spoke to every voter at least once, didn't pay for votes but actually inspired people to vote for him, with do-nothing RAMOS whose operation vote farmed 'rumor has it' by intimidating seniors and public housing poor... really?

DeFusco got his mail-in votes honestly and the rest of Reform could learn from him. Voting by mail is not inherently corrupt. Telling people who to vote for, giving them money and breaking election law IS

    2. Actually DeFusco won on the machines too 633 to Castellano's 551.

    3. Madigan is around kids? Let him go coach kids in profanities in Spanish at HoLA, starting with the "C" word as he often uses, or tutor the math classes in his special "50/50" raffle techniques.

  7. Madigan has been known to scream obscenities in public meetings and has allegedly roughed-up at least one little kid. The no-show "general technician" job was a bouquet, tossed to him by Raslowsky. I guess he knew Jack's shit.

And this is who they want on the school board? Maybe HoLa can use him; they got him elected.

    2. Oh please. Yes, illegal VBM's played a big role, but even though the Reach Higher candidates consisted of a guy who helped found Elysian Charter and two Latinas, whose qualifications were head and shoulders above their opponents, HoLa supporters lined up behind this thug instead of the better choices for all of Hoboken's kids. And we're still stuck with the do-nothing, cartoonish, Biancamano on our school board.

    3. No, vbms were decisive. RH won the machines. 600 vbms did not come out of Maxwell Place or the Tea Building.

    4. True, Hola did not get him elected but they campaigned for him and voted for him. Not for his credentials or stellar record of service, not even because they cared so much for the City of Hoboken and wanted to benefit the Hoboken public schools. Hola parents voted for him because he promised to take care of them. They bought it. They own it. Unfortunately, they don't have to live with him. That would be the kids in the HBOE.

    8. When you say Hola you mean Frank "Pupie" Raia.

      Delete
    9. The Hola parents are just doing what they believe is best for their kids. The funding and political implications are complex.

But look at their current information sources: Frank Raia, Hola Board member still smarting from being thwarted by the "moms". Petrocino, Hola Board Member and disgruntled former district employee. Not only was he fired by the BOE but sued for his job back. He lost and was made to repay the district. Barbara Martnez. Hola Board Pres and VP for Uncommon Charters Corporation. Jen Sargent, Hola Ex Director who had her $150,000 consultant check from the BOE overturned when it was found to have been so illegally granted (by then BOE Board members Frank and Carmelo Garcia) that it was reversed.

What better revenge than to get their parents behind John Madigan, yet another disgruntaled ex district employee who lost his no show job as soon as Raia and company lost the majority.

John Madigan doesn't care about them, he was just happy to use them to get revenge on the BOE. I don't blame them for caring about their children, I blame them for not caring about the kids in the public schools and voting this man on to their Board.

    10. HoLa Moms and Dads do not need to get paid to do the wrong thing with a VBM - they do it for free at the machines! Petty sense of entitlement is all they need. They got what they want and they don't care how dirty they got getting it.

Let's also not forget the HoLa parents' dirty trick either: booking a 2nd BOE debate the Thursday night before the election. Why a 2nd debate when there already was a debate that all 7 candidates attended? Oh, right - so they could give the Reach Higher candidates only 2 days notice, then post all over social media that Reach Higher did not attend and then promote the other 4 "committed" candidates who attended their sham debate (hosted jointly with the NJ Charter School Association, no less).

So, yes, they own Madigan. And Brittney too - the female version of Peter Biancamano - a do-nothing, Frank Raia protegee waiting for the next election to come along.

  8. Gotta hand it to the OG. One thing they now how to do is rally their "take back Hoboken" crowd while at the same time find ways to use those fresh off the boat newbies. Alana and Brit are so new they didn't live here when Madigan was given his $50,000 no show job or when he was fired from that no show job.

Alana and Brit were great draws for those hated newcomers. They served their purpose in gathering a few additional votes. Funny how it didn't work both ways. What was the spread between Madigan and Alana? ONE THOUSAND VOTES. Works every time.

  9. Is this is madigan win or a reform loss? If you asked voters who supported reform councilpeople why they didn't vote for schoolboard or who they voted for you'd probably find the charter school lawsuit was a factor in their decision.

    1. Being afraid to do the right thing is a mistake. And allowing, and what sounds like excusing, HoLa's assistance in screwing the district kids is the opposite of reform. They don't care whom they hurt to get what they want. That is now obvious. They care about only themselves, not our town. They put Madigan on the BOE and now they'll point to how bad the schools are because he is on the Board.

    2. Unfortunately, the "anti Hola crap" is coming from inside. From Raia, Petro, Sargent, Martinez, Ruben and Garcia. Hurting the Mayor and reform IS their goal no?

Reform did very well city wide and RH won on the machine. My guess with the support of many charter parents who don't believe the message being spread from BOE haters at Hola. Unfortunately, the mail in vote wave (usually anti reform and generally associated with Ruben and Raia) turned the results.

Voting in a guy named Psyc (really?) does not help Hola and only hurts the BOE. Sounds like an anti reform plan to me.

    3. It is really hard to take people who only support HoLa because they personally benefit financially from HoLa's existence all that seriously. As for the "anti-HoLa" crap, when you finally acknowledge many of the people who started, backed and run that school only did so they could personally benefit from it, then maybe you might get why so many of us dislike it. And until you get rid of those people and stop playing fast and loose w/ the paperwork when you try to sneak an expansion through, don't expect any of us to like it. Because we really don't. Everything about that school is about as kosher bacon wrapped scallop served with brown butter sauce and the only people who don't get that are the ones who sent their kids to school there w/o doing any due diligence (or who ignored what they know about the cast of characters over there).

    5. Reform is about good, honest government, accountability and its side-kick, truth. The "anti-HoLa crap", as you put it, is a result of their very founding, the un-holy alliances with old-guard people of dubious integrity and the unethical and possibly illegal way in which their building and its subsequent renovation occurred. Those issues are never going away.

    4. Forget Hola, ask Elysian and Hoboken Charter parents how they feel about the lawsuit. Do most support it?

I'm sorry but this lawsuit is a massive blind spot for some people. People may not support or even know who Raia is and still be turned away from people who support this lawsuit.

That's the last I'm going to say on this here.

      Delete
    5. That's exactly right. You are doing what all the HoLa and some other charter parents want to do, not talk about it. Never ever honestly address the merits. Don't talk about the skimming or the "Got to Go" list attitude. Don't even acknowledge how the disadvantaged are getting the shaft. How the district takes every kid, regardless of disability or talent.

It is a blind spot because it is an uncomfortable truth they don't want to admit that they are encouraging. And they are laying down with dogs to get what they want. Turn your back if you want to, but now you become part of the problem.

Hoboken is not a utopia. It is a city with many different interests. Running away from the school system doesn't help fix what ails us. It only makes it worse. And that is something no one on that side will dare to admit.

  15. Why are the commenters who support Hola threatening to throw future Mayoral and city races? Why do they keep trying to suppress people's first amendment right to express outrage about an unfit, illiterate candidate being propelled to the School Board by their vote in combination with the corrupt votes cast by people supporting the old guard folks on their own school board? These are the sort of classy defenses made when they have no moral justification for their votes. I don't necessarily believe that all Hola or charter parents are the bad actors in this story but by looking out for their own and voting for ineffective candidates who will sit on the board and do nothing, they are reversing the great strides made by the district to provide quality education for the growing number of kids going to public school. Expressing outrage is not being a sore loser, that is what's called righteous anger.

  18. This is NOT about Hola! It is about the vote harvest! Stop playing into the FEW divisive, revenge driven, hate mongers in Hola who want to distract everyone from the truth.

Try as they might, those few hate mongers cannot convince the community that the BOE and recent BOE candidates are the devil. It is a distraction and most can see that. Anyone paying attention know all about the scurge that is the hate crew at Hola. They are NO angels and they are not doing the parents of Hola any favors. Sad that a few parents have fallen for their BS and horrifying that some would even click a vote for the likes of Madigan or Waiters for spite or revenge. RH won on the machine. This is about the 600 - SIX HUNDRED extra votes for Madigan. This is the problem and it has to stop. Good people in every corner of Hoboken, in every school in Hoboken must call for this to end. Stop being distracted and end this mess now!

  19. Just my opinion but watching an out of control John Madigan on the TV coverage of the BOE will only help the reformers next election. Without a majority the two members just elected like Peter Biancamano before them will have no real effect on anything.
