Leaky, gossipy Eduardo

As reported today on MSV, when 5th Ward candidate Eduardo Gonzales spoke to the City Council last week, he said this:

"From my understanding, BASF offered to donate the four acre main parcel at no cost to the Hoboken taxpayers in exchange for zoning relief for the remaining two acres..."

BASF is the owner of a 6 contiguous acre lot in Hoboken. The City is currently in negotiations with BASF in the interest of  obtaining the property for a park the size of Pier A.

Negotiations between the CIty and BASF are privileged and confidential.

Ooops!

Sheepish Eduardo Gonzales, cold-busted for trafficking in confidential city business, is  trying to walk this sleazy, unethical behavior back.

Gonzales told MSV that the BASF proposal he pitched to the City Council was just "gossip."

And the 5th Ward wants to be represented by a gossip?  Or  by a person who leaks priivleged negotiations for his own selfish political advancement?

Not a great choice for the 5th Ward either way.   Either Gonzales governs by  GOSSIP  or he's a leaky LEAKER.

 Here's another idea.

How about re-electing a guy who plays by RULES and has integrity: PETER CUNNINGHAM.

Comments

  1. Could that gossip be being leaked by the developer community to Eduardo? Maybe to people sitting across the table in those confidential negotiations are reaching out to developer-favored candidates in an attempt to sway public opinion. The next time the city is at the negotiation table they need to ask the question: is someone sharing information with members of the public? If the answer is no, the city needs to question their side.

    2. Based on Councilman Russo's immediate attempt to shut down the topic after his running mate was called out on the source of his rumor, it is a safe bet that he knew who had given him that rumor.

It would be incredibly stupid for anyone on the BSAF side to be giving out confidential negotiations to anyone as it would be viewed as a sign of bad faith and taint any further negotiations or legal action in the future. Their would be no up side for them to do so.

This faux pas will put Mr. Gonzales between a rock and a hard place as the election proceeds and any answer he gives about the source of the rumor will be damming.

    3. Everyone knows the dirty players on the council begin and end with the Russo Crime Syndicate. So hey, it's all cleared up.

Which one of them is volunteering to take the blame: Terry or Michael?

Whaddaya gotta do to show these smart yuppie guys what to say? We blame you Mikey. Now we ain't gonna get nuthin for it.

  4. Nice goin scumbag. I bet Ramos thought Gonzalez would be the ethical center of his ticket.

Garcia? Oily as cheap can of tuna.
    Russo? Video-taped bribe taker.
Biancamano? Only Occhipinti had a sleazier vbm haul in Hoboken history.
    Castellano? It's been cleared up.

And now Gonzalez waving purloined documents in city council.

Nice ticket, Ruben. Did you find a role for Cammarano yet?

  5. If elected, Gonzales has already proven himself to be untrustworthy and would therefore disadvantage the City as members of the City Council are the development arm for Hoboken. I wouldn't put it past the developer to have leaked the info to certain parties if they thought it would give them an edge.

  6. Hey, so what if Gonzales is a development guy - DeFusco is too and someone else was recently posting that it don't matter if DeFusco is a development guy cause he's just one vote. Gonzales would only be one vote too so what's the diff? But, seriously, I think Cunningham is strong enough to hold his seat. My thought would be for lots of local energy going into ensuring that Fisher captures a win in the 2nd.

    1. Read the post. Gonzales is trafficking in sensitive CONFIDENTIAL City business for selfish political gain, then stupidly blabbers about it at a public meeting. Gonzales is not on the same ethical plane as DeFusco. Mike has comported himself ethically and honestly on the Zoning board.

Eduardo has exposed himself as a shill for developers- much different than being pro-development.

    2. God, do you know how dumb that sounds? Gonzales doesn't hold any position or office that necessitates his maintaining confidentiality. He a member of the public and someone told him about some offer and he went up to the council microphone and talked about it. Are you saying that Gonzales is paying some Patrick Ricciardi character to email him confidential information? Quite a stretch. I'd suggest contacting Cunningham and offering to volunteer for the campaign instead of spending time here typing stupid comments.

    3. Really. So, "someone" told a political aspirant to Hoboken's legislative body about "some offer?" That "someone" is supposed to have the wisdom and integrity to know better. How about this: someone leaked confidential negotiations between the CIty and BASF to a political candidate who then was too dopey to realize he was leaking privileged information at the City Council, but tried to use the confidential info to grandstand? When Mello called Gonzales out, a hush fell over Gonzales' council allies.

Nobody mentioned Ricciardi. Only you. "Do you realize how dumb that sounds?"

Eduardo can tell us who spilled the beans.

    4. So what you're saying is Gonzales is dopey. So what? Candidate or not, he's a member of the public that can say any dopey thing he wants to at the microphone. Mello looked equally as dopey asking for corporation counsel to provide a ruling on a dopey citizen making a dopey comment.

Oh and love the dopey drama your trying to infuse into the council meeting. Maybe that hush that fell over the room was anyone in ear shot that couldn't believe that Mello made such a dopey, stupid comment. I watched the meeting and was scratching my head when Mello started asking the corporation counsel to give a ruling on a private citizen's comments in the public portion when any member of the public can say any dopey thing they want to.

    5. Give it up, you and the Carmelo Crew ain't spinning your way out of this one. That's not how the Russo Klan operates. They took this info from the city and it was mapped out to make it an election issue.

Eduardo was approved to do this in advance. They didn't think it through. Kinda like how Eduardo is the dirty one caught at the stick-up. Serves him right.

How do you say, "Eduardo won't be in work today, he's in the clink" in German?

    6. Anon @ 6:34 pm-

If I understand you correctly, you are ceding the point that Gonzales is dopey, and as a member of the public he is allowed to be dopey.

I completely agree. Any member of their public, including myself, is allowed to get up and say something dopey or even be a complete jackass.

Now that we both sort-of agree that Gonzales' blurting out leaked city business in public for his own benefit was "dopey" (I would add "unethical") then the next question is: should the 5th ward elect a guy who acts "dopey" and/or says dopey stuff on matters of public interest and public concern?

Simply put, do 5th Ward voters support public dopiness in their elected reps?

Do 5th Ward voters prefer dopey (Gonzales) to a track record of competence (Cunningham)? These are questions for 5th ward voters to answer. Not me!

  7. That would be one true bit of karma if that actually made the front page of the Hoboken Distorter! No way Eduardo gets votes in the fifth ward trading on confidential information like that with the OGs. That's not gonna fly.

For the record, no one gets to use my name writing phony letters there anymore.

Hey cranky pants, Franz's claim to fame is running a minimal campaign getting just enough votes to allow Beth to avoid a runoff.

      Don't see a similarity?

Yell obscenity without thinking and repeat.

    3. Why is Tiffanie campaigning with him ? Maybe Roman can enlighten us, Franz and Roman hang out on Franz's terrace, I'm sure he wouldn't be friends with someone that was out to hurt Reform.
Besides, 4 yearsago is a long time, look at all the Mason people who wrote nasty letters about Dawn, then fled like rats to Zimmer and ended up with JOBS and committee appointments....Some of you do no good to the person you want to remain in power. If Zimmer can forgive the Mason Alumni, you folks can get over a guy who ran a tiny campaign. Cunningham won a 3 way with delea as a spoiler, it's called democracy. Unless you can replace the votes Paetzold is bringing to Tiffany from his large building, you should shut your trouble making mouth. Bunch of lazy armchair do nothings.

      Delete
    4. Doesn't matter what Paetzold is today or who you saw on his balcony when you were making the rounds spying on everyone. Paetzold in this case is a word not a person. It's a word for virtually non-existent campaign whose only achievement is to hand the election to the old guard. In 2011 it was Paetzold. In 2015 it looks like Murray. If Franz is going to screw Hoboken again because he didn't like a comment so be it. Wouldn't be the first time, would it? But you really must do something about that temper though. So emotional. Tsk, tsk.
