Hoboken's Rat Problem?

Is it true?

Will Hoboken Democratic Committee Chairman Anthony Romano and Vice Chair Mike Russo reward anti-Fulop activist Beth Mason with an 'honorary chairman' title?

Sources tell GA that Dark Siders are boasting the transfer of  "Honorary" Democratic Committee Chairman title to the key Sweeney ally Mason will not be stopped!   Only 2 years ago, Mason launched an aggressive campaign to derail Fulop's mayoral aspiration. Mason campaigned for Jersey City mayor Jeremiah Healy, she (and hubby) were Healy's top individual donor(s) with a $52,000 contribution and her paid political operative ran a vicious smear campaign against Fulop's top political strategist.

What kind of rat would reward that conduct with an honorary position in Hoboken's Democratic Committee?

Ho-hum...

I don't know any rat-finks like that (personally), do you?

Ho-hum...

Folks who 'poo-poo' the honorary title: if it's "meaningless" then why does Beth Mason want it so badly?

Because it's not.   The (imagined) 'clout' of this 'honorary' Party title will launch a thousand Brinks trucks; some will be dispatched to Hillary Clinton,  others to the coffers of Stephen Sweeney who wants the Democratic party's gubernatorial  nomination.

Uh-oh, so does Fulop.

Well, rats don't care about such trivialities.  Rats make deals behind the backs of their 'allies'.  Why?

Because they are...

Turning on Fulop?

Well, let's hope the rumors aren't true!   GA is a Democrat, after all.  To think the Hoboken Party has come to this.

Moving along... it appears Beth Mason has told some Reformers she is running for 2nd Ward City Council.  True or rattling Reform's cage?

More dish: sources say the Dark Side is confident they can beat Jen Giattino in the 6th Ward. And the 4th?  The rumor mill has been very quiet on Dana Wee-fer (do not pronounce it "Way-fer" or "Weh-fer").   GA has noted pop-up screen names attacking Ms. Wee-fer on MSV.  It's early for that, no?

Well, summer is quiet; people are more interested in summer fun than political warfare.  But then, this is Hoboken, and we may have a rat problem.

  1. If Beth wins reelection, Ruben wins the 4th and Jen loses the 6th, I will move out of town. Jersey City, here I come.

Luckily, I think there's very little chance of one of those things happening, and probably not likely for two of them.

    1. Jersey City isn't much better than the scenario you just posted.

  2. Does anyone really think Carmelo can be Jen? They can't be serious!

  3. If her highness runs it is because she is banking on multiple opponents watering down the number of votes that won't go to her, and of course outspending everyone 500 to 1.

Now the interesting thing will be how she handles the many questions about her God awful record. 2nd warders will not have appreciated the near destruction of the hospital which would have bankrupted the city, her blind support of the HHA shenanigans and mismanagement, her employee's issues with harassing a young girl and Mom, among 900 other issues.

Oh, and of course her emails, and the emails of those who aid and abet her. Those should go over just great. Remember the nonsensical rant that went something like "I've always stood for those who were standing against bullying when stood up with standing.."

    2. And don't forget how she quietly sat on her hands RE: the Monarch when it mattered (only to later bogusly "come out against it"). Lots of Tea Building residents need to be reminded about that...oh wait, they will be reminded every day once construction starts, and again later when their million-dollar NYC skyline views are obstructed.

    3. Yes, the list Mason has of negatives is huge. And every time Mason tries to greet people at a bus stop a list of these things can be handed out and brought up. If Mason tries to meet Maxwell Place residents people can ask about this list of disasters. She doesn't handle herself well when she doesn't have something written for her in advance and these things will follow her everywhere

Should be quite a train wreck to watch

    4. 2012: Mason voted NO to fund the lawsuit against the Monarch project:

Because the appropriations failed, the city council then had to decide which legal battles to fund...

Those suits include fighting the Monarch project..

After about an hour of discussion on those matters, Council President Ravi Bhalla tried once more to get his council colleagues to approve the appropriations.

But, for the second time that night, the appropriations failed.

"Tonight the City Council minority refused to fund to fight the Monarch project, defend the City against litigation, and pay our firefighters for overtime due to the recent fire," Mayor Dawn Zimmer said in a statement after the meeting. "This refusal is an irresponsible breach of their fiduciary duty to the City of Hoboken."

2013: Mason voted NO to fund the lawsuit against the Monarch project:

On Wednesday night, the divided Hoboken City Council failed to continue funding the contracted law firm representing the city, despite Mayor Dawn Zimmer’s recent announcement that the city would appeal a judge’s recent decision dismissing the city’s case.

Third Ward Councilman Michael Russo called the city’s spending for outside special counsel, which is listed in the budget as $1.6 million for the current year, “obscene” and 4th Ward Councilman Tim Occhipinti argued that because the Monarch case was already closed, there was no need for further funding.

Zimmer’s allies on the council voiced noticeable exasperation upon failing to approve the funding, with Council President Peter Cunningham saying, “There goes representation on the Monarch.”

  4. Are the Hoboken Reformers big Fulop supporters? I'm confused. Why would we be? He's playing heavy to the developer crowd over there in Jersey City. When that crowd starts applauding, you've gotta start worrying.

    1. You are confused. Romano, the Russos, Garcia and Cryan aren't Reformers.

  5. There's a lot of trash talk going around about Dana and Jen. Its Ruben Carmelo and Russos crew. Notice they don't like women. Not one woman in the top 3 dem committee positions.

    1. Except some would say Mama Russo rules the roost. And let's not forget the wicked witch cousin.

As long as reform works hard, I feel good about both Jen and Dana taking their races. Dana will have the tougher road. Jen's got a strong track record and people like her. How does Carmelo street money help in the 6th?

    2. Street money (via Mason of course) can help the gutter rat buy some votes. There's one Church Towers building in the sixth ward and they will get a hard pitch and VBMs without a doubt.

But they will more likely quietly support Giattino over a gutter rat.

    3. Unless my ward map is out of date, all three Church Towers buildings are in Ward 6. That explains the whisper campaign about Giattino targeting CT. That Jen wants to throw out city workers and longterm residents. Nothing gets out the vote like people scared of losing their homes. Do not underestimate the effect of this. This is the Russos and Carmelo.

    4. In that case, Jen should hold a town hall at CT, or a meet and greet to tell people all that whispering is BS. Extend a hand, people will listen. The OGs and Russo buddies will never vote for her, but lots of decent people in CT who are sick of the Russos and the Carmelo circus could very well "quietly" vote for her. Resist the VBMs!

    5. If you are so clueless about basic information on most of Church Towers' location, offering political advice is not for you. Do you know who Michael Russo is?!

    6. I'm 75% sure that the building south of 5th on Grand is in 3/2 (votes there). North of 5th on Grand is 3/3 (votes there). The building on Willow is 6/4 (votes in Demearest).

    7. I've only lived here since 2006, but that whole time two of the buildings have been in the 3rd ward. The Russo's live in one of them.

  6. Anthony Romano is the key. If he wakes up and deep-sixes this suicide mission against Fulop he remains viable for a mayoral race. If he goes ahead with this plan Fulop will raise tons of money and an army against him, and he can kiss his Freeholder post goodbye as well. You need a new political consultant, Tony. Call your old friend and lunch partner who moved out of Hudson.

    1. Too late. Easy money from Beth has destroyed everyone's work ethic.

    2. Romano is just a straw dog for the Russos and Mason.
Fulop will raise more than money, he will raise an army of workers to march against anyone who is affiliated with Mason's money and that includes Russo and Romano.
Stack will not support Romano against a hispanic candidate.

  7. I'm very uncomfortable with this talk of a "rat problem." There's no such thing as a "rat problem." Rat problem? People love rats. We're adorable. We're even considered tokens of good luck. How often have you heard someone say, "that lucky rat." See? Adorable and lucky. What's not to like? The only problem I see is jealousy. Rat envy. The silent killer....
