BOMBSHELL: "Secret Agreement" to backstab Fulop, Mason WILL get Hoboken Dem Party "Honorary Chair"

Et tu, Russo?

GA thought something smelled when  Hudson County View reported that Assemblyman Carmelo Garcia (D-33) was named the Hoboken Democratic Committee’s Honorary Chairman

It turns out, I was right.

The Honorary Chair usually goes to the Hoboken mayor or else a highly prominent person within NJ's Democratic Party.   Carmelo Garcia, rumored 6th Ward challenger to incumbent Jen Giattino,  had lobbied hard for Councilwoman Beth Mason to take HDP Chair; Garcia was the only  politico to 'go public' telling The Hoboken Reporter“She’s ideal for the job.”

Then why give it to Garcia, and not Mason?

I'll spell it out: S-T-E-V-E  F-U-L-O-P.

Mason continues to play an active role in trying to sabatoge Steve Fulop's political careeer.  In 2013, she and hubby dumped $52,000  (the maximum allowable contribution) into Fulop's opponent, incumbent Jersey City Mayor Jerry Healey's campaign warchest.  At the same time, Mason political operative James Barracato, was shopping thumb drives to local media containing ancient 'dirt' on  Tom Bertoli, Fulop's Chief strategist.  Barracato's ham-handed ploy proved the lows to which Mason would sink in order to destroy Jersey City's Fulop. This was a personal betrayal as well, since Bertoli allegedly had gotten Barracato his highly-paid gig with Mason in 2008.  How else has Beth Mason opposed Fulop?    PolitickerNJ refers to her as " a key northern ally of Senate President Steve Sweeney." As Hoboken Democratic Party Chair (or "Honorary Chair"), Mason would have a prominent platform to organize support and fund raise for Fulop's opponent, Stephen Sweeney.

That explains our neighbor's opposition to Beth "ATM" Mason assuming even an honorary position with the Hoboken Democratic Party.

Tough luck, Mayor Fulop.

The Backstabbers have figured out a way to empower the woman who has used her great personal wealth to destroy you.

Unimpeachable sources with direct knowlege, and confirmed by a third, told GA:
Stick Carmelo and the Russo diss tonight a secret agreement with her to do honorary chair by letter in a few weeks when they think nobody is looking. Until 5pm [re-org] she was going on Sticks ticket as co honorary chair. That was going to be her title.  They got scared off of doing it by [redacted]. He was yelling for 3 weeks up until 3 hours before. This is the bs compromise to appease her and hide it from fulop. I believe she expected to be honorary co chair going into the meeting. I doubt there is an exact offering on the table but the expectation is make her happy and get fundraising asistance.
With these folks, cash trumps honor.

Chairman Anthony Romano, Vice Chair Michael Russo and Honorary Chairman Carmelo Garcia must take responsiblity for this "secret agreement" to sneak Beth Mason into the power structure of the Hoboken Democratic party behind Steve Fulop's back.

'They' are a coalition. Stick said it himself to PolitickerNJ.
“It was a coalition: Michael Russo, [1st Ward Councilwoman] Theresa Castellano, [2nd Ward Councilwoman] Beth Mason and Carmelo Garcia,” said Romano..."
They smile in your face
All the time they want to take your place
The back stabbers (back stabbers)...
A few of your buddies they sure look shady
Blades are long, clenched tight in their fist
Aimin' straight at your back
And I don't think they'll miss

  1. another awesome scoop for GA! hope your blog has out-of-town readership over at that big building municipal building on grove st. in JC...

  2. Can someone explain to me (using small words) why Sweeney needs Beth so much, or why Fulop is so hated by Beth & co? I just don't understand why she's important enough to anyone to get this title. I am definitely missing something, and I am very interested in this. Thank you.

    1. Money is number 1. Sweeney is very old school pro-union dem, which is not a strong message even with dems in 2015. (Beth is politically too dumb to figure that out.) So she gives Sweeney an upstate place to roost and minimally 50k.

Whether he has figured out yet that Beth has NO coat tails, no support, no one who will lift a finger unless they get paid - remains to be seen.

    2. thank you. So sweeney is potentially dumb & unaware of what he's signing up for with Beth. Awesome.

      Delete
    3. Sweeney ain't dumb. He will visit north Jersey to pose with Mason and her asshole pals now and then - for a price. Trust me, the guy has a price and there's no check Beth Mason can give to make him or anyone take her seriously. Certainly, not for Lt. Gov. which she's been telling anyone dumb enough to listen.

That's Finboy's aphrodiasic to get Mason's wallet erect. He whispers "Lt. Governor.... Lt. Governor..." then her checkbook becomes engorged and shoots checks. The OG swallows, never spits. In the biz its called a 'money shot.'

      Delete
    5. The thought of her being Lt. Governor is laughable. She isn't qualified to clean to toilet the Lt. Governor uses much less to be a Lt. Governor. She is an epic failure at everything she has done except write checks.

  3. The Hillary stuff is all bullsh*t. She burned her bridges here. Mason wants to help Sweeney become gov, get a big job in Trenton and screw hudson county.

  4. So is this lunatic desperate for honorary positions mean the 2nd ward is rid of her? Or do 2nd warders have to endure that fake smile at the bus stops uptown all fall while she spouts her lies running for reelection?

He'll certainly sell it to her for a good price for his campaign, Michael Russo's, Terry....

    1. A word to the wise. Be careful not to allege "blackmail"- a criminal offense, unless you can prove the truth of your statement in court, as the SLAPP Defendants proved our verifiable statements about Lane Bajardi to be substantially true and/or true with a reasonable basis to believe they were true.

Just so you know. Since we are dealing with SLAPPers and CRAPPers.

    2. Hmmm, funny someone should say that. Beth Mason - blackmail, bribery, perjury?

Does Hillary require Bethy hold a hollow title to make another donation?

    4. I don't think anything such as blackmail is actually visible in the air. So being that this doesn't make literal sense, I don't see how it can be made out to make sense.

If someone does spot any blackmail in the air, they should tell us!

  9. Ramos desperately needs hard street cash for his 4th Ward campaign. Garcia doesn't since street cash has few seekers in the 6th but Garcia isn't smart enough to understand that and will run the same plays he was taught back in the bad old days. The Russos just like cash that finds its ways to their pockets.

All are looking to extract cash from Dodo Mason and will do what they need to do for her to spend money on their behalf.

    1. Mason sure is as dumb as a box of rocks. All the money in the world won't buy her respectability yet she still keeps writing those checks.

    2. Ruben and Carmelo are both chasing cash for the campaigns. Not all money goes to the street.

They need money. It's going to come from outside Hoboken.

    3. Don't give rocks a bad name. Ramos, Garcia, Russo, and Stick CAN raise money, they're just lazy. Its easier to tap The Checkbook and throw her a bone like a title than WORK for the $. IMO, this particular batch of OG candidates are a bunch of lazy, gifting slobs.

      Delete
    4. Garcia can't raise more than a pittance. I hear he owes tens of thousands to lawyers for a couple of years and hasn't been able to pay out.

      Delete
    5. Hasnt been able (allegedly) to pay his debts?

Garcia has made plenty of money at the HHA and State Assembly. His wife works. He got a sweetheart deal on his brownstone. He should have the dough to pay off 10s of thousands if its true he owes his lawyers.

  10. Make no mistake the Russos, Stick, and Garcia formed a plan not do dethrone Cryan but to publicly humiliate him. And it worked. Unless Cryan can show some strength no one will ever take him seriously again.

    1. No, he took the graceful approach like a good soldier. He doesn't want trouble.

      Delete
    2. They didn't let Cryan take the graceful approach. They shouted him down, declared Garcia the MC for the night, and Cryan slinked out of a meeting he walked into as Chairman.

Graceful would have been letting Cryan MC or letting him choose the MC and simply winning the votes. The Russos, Stick, and Garcia wanted to end Cryan as a political entity in Hoboken. It may have worked.

    3. Let's see how Pupie reacts to the news. Don't expect him to take their crap. He already has one horse in the race in the 2nd ward and it won't likely end there.

    4. I beg to differ! The video is gold. Oh, my goodness. It will scare Hoboken residents for years to come!

IMO, Jamie comes off like he respects the rule of law, but got sandbagged by a lawless gang of thugs. They threw salt on open wounds and created deeper animosities amongst their own. Pass the popcorn.

    5. Jaime got his ass kicked. He's putting the best face on it but he's still the guy who slinked off into the night after Garcia took over. Garcia made Cryan his bitch.

    6. Anon @ 5:27-

Really? Ever been sandbagged? I have. In the short term people like yourself will crow and strut, thinking your big swing is the "knockout punch," bragging that someone is "your bitch," and you even may get Al Sullivan or your pals at the HR to write it up that way. But In the long run, the strength of your opponent is in the reccovery and what you do not see coming. And, you don't strike me as the kind who will see it coming.

So, I didn't see an "ass-kicking." I saw a bunch of thugs and jackassses behave like lawless imbeciles... and LOVED it! Because this video will have a 2nd life and a 3rd and a 4th... that video will frighten the crap out of undecided voters for years to come!

So tell me, WHO got their ass kicked?

      Delete
    7. agree that the video will be very useful to reform in the future. is there a way to download and save it, in case HCV takes the video down at some point? we need to be able to post to that video on demand whenever any of those goons runs for office, so voters can see for themselves what they would be getting.

what goes around, comes around. revenge is a dish best served cold, etc.

    8. I agree. Cryan looked like the only sane one in the room. These morons don't get it. I want to thank the idiot who invited the videographer. Who was it?

Thanks for making my point for me. These are the 'thoughts' of a half-educated goon with his knuckles dragging on the ground. Look out the window. Any window in Hoboken. Do you see a lot of people who are going to be impressed by a bunch of thugs whose claim to fame in a public forum with the cameras rolling is that they made someone their 'bitch'?

Pathetic. You sound as dumb as twelfthandbloom saying women should stick to making brownies for their men.

  11. BTW, Anthony Romano. Congratulations. After years of attempting other appearances to the contrary, you're officially nothing but a two-bit thug.

It should simplify life for your going forward.

    ReplyDelete
  12. If Anthony Romano has any hopes of becoming MAYOR he better get rid of Mason and Garcia to have any chance. They are both poison and will turn off the many reformers who would split their vote between him and Zimmer. He doesn't need them to carry "old Hoboken" and if Russo ends up in a jam with West New York Mayor Roque in a business deal Romano won't need the Russos either. Sticks, you're heading down the wrong road. It's too early to make bad alliances.

    1. Getting rid of Mason and Garcia isn't going to win Stick any reformers. He has said nothing while county taxes increased 14% and 11% the last two years. Meantime he drives around in a tax-payer funded car, owns a bar, collects rents and lives in subsidized housing. He couldn't be any more dead-in-the-water with reform than he already is.

His only and I do mean only chance to turn heads is to be come the most vehement, take no prisoners supporter of a full forensic audit of Hudson County. It's the right thing to do after 25% worth of increases in taxes.

But he won't do it because it would spell disaster for one of the most entrenched political machines in the US.

Worrying about who he does or doesn't hang around with it just window dressing. Reform wants actions. Romano has an opportunity for action if he wants to be thought of as a leader rather than someone who just stuffs himself at the public trough like the Russos. He won't take it. So eff him.

      Delete
    2. He won't do a thing about the county tax hike that fell on our backs. Why would he? HIs backers are Hudson county and they are one happy family.

The entire county including the board of elections is all up on the gig. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the biggest vbm fraud ever pulled because the county and all the developers are salivating.

  13. Romano has had so much smoke blown up his ass lately that he is getting light headed.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Romano never had much crossover appeal to reform voters, and he just lost what little he had. He's strictly supported by the dwindling "it's OUR town" crowd. That's not to say he won't cash in on as many VBMs as possible and still have a shot at mayor, but the chances of him getting any sort of split reformer votes with Zimmer is now a pipe dream.

    1. Is this same our dwindling crowd that re-elected Romano Freeholder when he ran off the line against a reform candidate?

    2. Anon @ 9:26-

Too bad for you thousands of District 5 Romano voters in Jersey City don't vote in Hoboken elections.

      Delete
    3. Off year elections have very small turnouts and even smaller numbers from the reform side of the spectrum. But you knew that.

The Hoboken Old Guard politicos like to focus on these sort of little victories to pretend they have any meaningful power to try shore up their base which is shrinking, not growing. But you knew that.

Anthony Romano is not a king he has always been a pawn in the chess game of Hoboken politics and there is little chance that he or his Old Guard handlers can do to change ever that.

The fiasco they orchestrated at the HDP meeting has only increased the numbers and resolve of those who oppose them from both inside and outside of Hoboken. The question remains if the OG really had the control and votes at the meeting why the chaos why not have a civilized vote.

What we saw in the video were thugs utilizing intimidation tactics to enforce mob rule over what should have been a democratic process.

  16. why is mason supporting sweeney and not fulop? is she jealous of his rise, thinking it should have been her instead? or does she think she stands out more as a big-pocketbooked north jersey supporter of the south jersey candidate? otherwise, she'd just be lost in the crowd as one of many supporting fulop. i guess fishboy might also be a factor too, since he backstabbed a highly successful political operative who's worked for fulop.
