Earwitness News: Lieutenant Gov. Mason?

Well, well!  This dish was served hot in today's Secaucus Reporter, by my friend, Al Sullivan.

We all know that Hoboken's 2nd Ward Councilwoman is ambitious.  Remember this?

New Jersey's U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg died on June 3, 2013; his corpse was still warm when Councilwoman Mason got this story into the Star Ledger:

He's barely dead!

And a reputable news source, Grafix Avenger, reported from Lautenberg's June 5 funeral:
Mason, a Hoboken Councilwoman and one of the state’s most prolific donors, has been reaching out to leading Democrats expressing interest in the seat, reportedly on a Death Watch for Lautenberg since his 86th birthday.  A witness at that birthday party said, "Mason swapped  his birthday candles for the kind that don't blow out.  The Senator huffed and puffed, and I heard her whispering 'C'mon, c'mon..."

According to two sources familiar with Mason’s thinking who requested anonymity because they are not authorized to talk about internal deliberations, Mason wanted to make sure Lautenberg was dead before she declared her run for his seat.  They quoted her as saying, "I don't care if he's still warm."

At his funeral yesterday, Mason was seen climbing into his coffin to check Lautenberg's pulse.

"He's stiff as a board!" Mason was heard to shriek in New York City's Park Avenue Synagogue.  Then her companion, a squat dumpy-looking man who would only give his name as "James" handed out glossy fliers to the mourners that read "Beth Mason for U.S. Senate."  The slogan for her campaign appears to be "I'm Rich!"

Mason mourns the late Senator Frank Lautenberg

Ask New Jersey U.S. Senator Cory Booker how that panned out.

If at first you don't succeed....

Earwitness Al is reporting from his reliable sources that Hoboken's 2nd Ward Councilwoman is eying a run for New Jersey's Lieutenant Governor on a ticket with State Senator Stephen Sweeney!

Yup.  Oh, she'll get it, too.  Mark my word.  GA thinks it's great news- for Hoboken.

Bon voyage!

Future NJ Governor Sweeney and his Lieutenant Gov.?

  1. hahahahahaha!!! good lord, wtf is sweeney thinking? maybe the plan is he's from south jersey, so his running mate carries north jersey...but everyone here knows that ain't gonna happen with mason, who could barely win her lowly ward seat.

this certainly makes fulop's job easier.

    1. What is Sweeney thinking? He's thinking if Beth Mason was willing to go seven figures on an auction for a mere two year Assembly seat what will she be willing to pay for the Lt. Gov. position?

Sweeney wants money to run for the top statewide office. This is a way to get millions as Ricky Mason will turn over the money and finally get to say all the political payoffs finally.... paid off.

  2. Win-win: this way, she "voluntarily" gives up her 2nd ward seat to run for LG, loses that election and doest have to suffer the humiliation of losing in her council seat election.

The perfect exit strategy, kudos Beth!

  3. A law firm closely associated with Sweeney has been vetting Mason. Can't say more.

    1. Wonder if reading GA and MSV are part of that vetting process, LOL! A simple Google search will give Beth's opponent lots of ammunition.

    2. That woman is her own worst enemy. She'll take a brick bat to a hornets nest.

  4. Like her or not, Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno is an accomplished woman. She's a former Asst. US District Attny and Asst NJ Attny General. Mason's got dough and that's it.

    1. I doubt they are doing anything more than humoring her in order to get her to keep her checkbook open. She is dumb enough to fall for that one.

    2. Sweeney can't get millions from Ricky Mason until he puts Beth on the ticket. So it doesn't matter how dumb Beth is, Ricky won't write the check until it's official.

The idea Hoboken is rid of Mason is premature too. She doesn't have to do anything but wait until the time is right after a deal is cut. It could be some time as Gov. Christie doesn't look like he's going anywhere short of more GW Bridge troubles.

    1. I have my differences with Al. But it's not his fault if Beth is delusional. He's just supposed to report the delusions.

    1. People would make a big deal of Gov. Christie mixing it up with people in public. You ain't seen nothing yet. Imagine Beth Mason on a statewide seniors tour. Her goon will be let loose on a bunch of old ladies across the entire state.

  7. Mason paid a guy to hold a feather under Lautenberg's nose to make sure he was dead. True story.

    1. By the way, the Mason flapper outfit she wore at Sen. Lautenberg's funeral is 100% authentic. Just say'in.

  8. Sully called BM a "substantial financial resource" for local and even state level politicians which is a nice way of saying she's a ________________.

  9. She's too toxic. Politics may be 90% money but her opponents would have a field day with all the easily verifiable crap she's pulled. On top of that she's a lousy public speaker and has the personality of a dead fish. If it meant she's done trying to ruin Hoboken for her own political gain then by all means run Bethy run!

  10. The good news is you have a very good count of what she will bring in votes. She delivered approximately 15% of the vote for Tim Occhipinti who she supported in the mayoral election. Outside of Hoboken, barely anyone she hasn't written a check to knows who she is. Therefore, you have a potential upside of around 3,000 votes. Vet away, folks.

Sounds like she gave enough that they had to give more than lip service, but as the earlier commenter said, just googling her name gives enough not to bring her on within the first two pages, and once NJ Elec and her former false advertising issues come to play, I doubt any sort of vetting would be survived.

    1. on top of her dead-end political career, can you imagine if an opponent gets ahold of her professional history of failed corporate positions? so let's see: hasn't accomplished anything of note politically, twice couldn't get elected mayor of a one-square mile town, and drove businesses into the ground. hmm, yup, sounds like solid LG material to me!

  11. Not to worry. When they vet her and find out about her SLAPP suits, she's dead meat. Neither Sweeney or any other gubernatorial aspirant wants to start off a campaign with the media waiting to pounce on a purveyor of attacks on the first amendment. They'll just stroke her just to get her to come with the money.
