Rumor Patrol: Mason Double-Cross?

Well, I'm only repeating this one because I heard it from 2 sources.

True, one of them is clinically insane-- off his/her meds, that is. But the other one is lucid and talks to lots of folks.

So here goes:

I'm told that there will be a double-cross at Wednesday night's City Council meeting: Beth Mason's been tapped for $$ to get Occhipinti across the finish line with the promise of the City Council President's chair... BUT, the others have aligned with Russo to give it to him.

Yup. That's the rumor: Mason's been played.

I'm told that the others don't expect Mason to win her ward in May, so the lay-up is to give the more 'electable' Russo the chair which he plans to 'hold' via keeping the majority through the election. Well... we'll see about that, Mike.

So, there you have it. Either it's a baseless rumor or Beth Mason will say this on Wednesday:

"Et tu, Russo?"

  1. If true, Russo, Castellano, Occhipinti et al should be prepared. "Hell hath no fury..."

  2. She was double crossed once, so it wouldn't surprise me. It would more fun jousting with Beth. Michael doesn't get nearly as riled up as the Queen of the Mint.

  3. Interesting. I've heard talk of her getting double-crossed in May but after she's laid out her cash to help elect the Council of No. I'm thinking no president's chair no cash come May from money bags Mason. Wednesday will be interesting as always....

  4. Doesn't he still need to find a 5th vote if he double crosses Mason? It wouldn't surprise me if he did double cross her but who will be his 5th vote? And who will fund all the vote buying if he does double cross her? I am not too sure he can keep that majority without Mason's money and she might shut off the flow of vote buying fundage if she doesn't become the Queen of Mean on the CC.

  5. Ah-ha, Redrider765.

That's where the real intrigue lies... meaning that one (or more) of the minority members decided to stick it to the presumptive Queen.

  6. This "strange bedfellows" motif is really get out of hand. Too bad it's tragic instead of funny, it would make a great sitcom.
