She's Leaving Home

Wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins
Silently closing her office door
Leaving the note that she hoped would say more
She goes downtown to the Mayor's clutching her handkerchief
Quietly turning the backdoor key
Stepping outside she is free.

She (We gave her most of our cash)
is leaving (Sacrificed most of our cash)
City Hall (We gave her everything money could buy)
She's leaving City Hall though taxes our taxes didn't fall
For so many years. Bye, bye

Friday morning at nine o'clock she is far away
Waiting to keep the appointment she made
Meeting a man from the motor trade.

She (What did we do that was wrong)
is having (We didn't know it was wrong)
fun (Fun is the one thing that money can't buy)
Something inside that was always denied
For so many years. Bye, bye
She's leaving City Hall. Bye, bye

Leave it to Da Horsey, right out of the gate earlier this afternoon with da scoop: Judy Tripodi, our adorable Fiscal Monitor, will be leaving Hoboken for good this Friday, May 14.

I am going to miss her, and so will you. Because now we're on our own with no one to blame but ourselves. Good luck to us.

And happy trails to you, sweet Judy, Judy, Judy.
