So, you thought H411 was the province of angry white ball-scratchers, misfits and smear merchants.
Guess again.
I admit to being under the spell of a blue nugget and not paying much attention to the recent POG brouhaha over a blatantly partisan letter by it's president, Alice Crozier. The furor over the non-partisan government watchdog's metamorphosis into a Zimmer administration critic run by Mason friends has spilled over on the blogs. And the anger is palpable.
Well, this morning a friend sent me a screen shot of an incredibly racist post from H411-- surprise, surprise! That's like saying you found sugar in the sugar bowl.
So I held my nose and went over there for a look. And lo and behold, found this:
OK, correction to above: H411 is the province of angry white ball-scratchers, misfits, smear merchants and POG.
So, POG lends its 'credibility' to a venue that has elevated censorship to an art form, tolerates racist remarks about political opponents, mocks fat people and dwarfs, published a pictorial comparing our Mayor to a chimpanzee... enough said. As a Mason spin machine, Crozier throws fuel on the fire of the partisan taint she's brought to POG by posting her letter there.
And H411 posters love Bhalla.
Here are a few winning posts for your consumption, from the same thread as the Crozier letter. And NONE of the following posters were reprimanded by the 'moderator' Hoboken411... oh, no. This is what goes for discourse over there.
About Councilman Ravi Bhalla, did you know he wears a turban?
And I'll bet you didn't know that Councilman Bhalla doesn't have to take buses or drive like you or I... no, he's rides on a magic carpet!
I'll bet he saves a ton of money on gas.
Now, most of us have to keep our cash in a bank, or put it into investments like stocks or mutual funds. Not Ravi. He keeps his rupees safe and warm, stuffed under his turban.
Alright, I think you get it.
So, that's what goes on over there under the banner of Free Speech: ethnic slurs and bigotry run wild.
Now, someone tell me again why POG chose that platform to scold the Zimmer administration on ethics?
Can they be taken seriously any more?
Guess again.

I've heard that some folks have asked POG to weigh in on the Mason kerfuffle. When might that letter emerge? Alice? Eric? Bob?
ReplyDeleteHaving attended the POG meeting, it's worth noting that Alice Crozier does not bear singular responsibility for the letter. Eric Kurta has posted that he did have a role in it along with Bob Duval.
ReplyDeleteWhile Ravi Bhalla's name came up in the usual utterings around the beaten to a pulp 29K Condon contract, Beth Mason's ELEC report was not and this is noted in Andrew Tavani's feature on POG at Hoboken.patch.com.
As curious as the POG letter and it was discussed along with some expressed regrets by POG VP Eric Kurta, not a question was raised about Beth Mason's ELEC reports. ELEC itself was discussed at length and in some very odd ways. (More on that later at MSV.)
Although Beth Mason's ELEC reports have been all over the news the past week including criticism from ELEC itself, she didn't use the opportunity to speak about any of it either.
Apparently, she didn't feel addressing POG and the audience who are supposed to be concerned with such matters merited a single word.
Even more curious, neither did POG members.
The elephant somehow was able to both enter and leave the room without anyone taking notice.
Pog (Eric Kurta, Bob DuVal and crozier) have lost a huge helping of credibility here.
ReplyDelete"Alice's" letter could very well be the stake through the heart.WHich plays out nicely for Mason when she tries to ram another no bid contract through for one of her husbands friends again.
(Safir and Marsal)
POG has lost all credibility. After Mason apparently violates Elec, they no longer want to look into elec issues? They can't be serious. What a shame. Let me guess, Bajardi and Keim were there as well.
ReplyDeleteMargaret O'Brien needs to be more tolerant and urban,
ReplyDeleteand stop making fun of Ravi for wearing a turban,
Her motor mouth, she needs to parkit,
Shame on her for referring to a magic carpet,
If she doesn't like diversity she should go suburban.
